Public rule catalog
Every check we run, in plain English.
Form 5500 Lint is a deterministic pre-submission review tool. Below is the complete rule library — each finding the engine can produce, what it checks, and a citation to the underlying IRS instruction or EFAST2 edit-test specification. Audit it before you trust it.
What this catalog represents
Every rule listed here is implemented in our deterministic lint engine. When the engine flags an issue in your draft return, the finding includes the edit-test ID, the line reference, the observed value vs. the expected condition, and a direct link to the published IRS instruction or EFAST2 edit-test specification.
AI is used only to polish the suggested-fix sentence into plain English. The edit-test ID and citation are always preserved verbatim from the rule definition — never invented.
What is NOT checked
Schedule SB actuarial assumptions, plan-document terms, ERISA legal sufficiency, and any judgment call requiring counsel review are explicitly out of scope. We flag uncertainty ("cannot determine — Schedule SB not attached") rather than guess.
This is a pre-submission lint tool, not a substitute for ERISA counsel review.
